OlyEcosystems Partners with the City of Olympia to Save an Additional 2.75 Acres in the West Bay Woods
Nearly a years worth of organizing and planning with the City of Olympia's Parks Department has come together for a Phase I effort to preserve the West Bay Woods, enabling the City to move ahead with a purchase option on one parcel and a purchase agreement on the other. City Council unanimously approved the motion on August 16th. Your support and OlyEcosystems advocacy made this a reality.
The first 1.4-acre parcel expands the buffer around the heronry to the north. The second 1.6-acre parcel secures a pedestrian pathway from the NW neighborhood to the waterfront.
At OlyEcosytems, we see this proposal as equal parts environmental and social justice, acknowledging the importance of connecting conservation with community.
